"Hamilton can take records, but Verstappen will make his life difficult"
Honda and Aston Martin Red Bull Racing will be aiming to win the 2020 F1 world championship. Former F1 driver Alexander Wurz believes Max Verstappen will push Lewis Hamilton close next season, a season in which the British driver aims to top some records set by Michael Schumacher.
Honda biggest surprise of 2019
Honda has developed in such a way that they could compete with Mercedes in 2019. Wurz calls this the biggest surprise of 2019 in F1.
"I had hoped for surprises and they were there. I am most surprised by the progress that Honda has made. That has been very important for Formula 1. At the end of the season, no expert could pinpoint the favourite for pole or win," Wurz told Speedweek.com.
Hamilton v Verstappen in 2020
For next season, he, therefore, assumes that the championship is completely open. The question of whether Hamilton can break all Michael Schumacher's records next season is answered with some doubt.
“I think so, but it will be difficult because Max Verstappen is going to make his life difficult. He can also become a world champion. Certainly with the form and dynamics that Red Bull Racing and Honda are currently in," he added.
