Honda's Masashi Yamamoto "really looking forward to next year"
Red Bull Racing have made their ambitions for 2020 very clear. They want to win. They had a strong 2019 with three race wins but will be wanting to improve ahead of 2020 and compete for the championship. Their relationship with Honda has been a match made in heaven and they will hope to develop further next season.
“We have regular meetings with Red Bull, Christian [Horner] and Helmut [Marko], myself and [Sakura R&D chief Yasuaki] Asaki-san. There we share our plans and the current situation as well, they share their plan and current position," Masashi Yamamoto told Motorsport.com.
“The fact it is almost on the schedule as planned is very important because we have mutual trust in each other, which makes the relationship stronger. We are really looking forward to next year.”
Yamamoto is pleased with how the season went and believes that the reliability of the Honda engine will be vital for success in years to come.
“This year we have a big result in terms of power unit development,” added Yamamoto. “As you can see from the race result, reliability is one thing, but the other thing is power. We are quite close to Mercedes, but we are behind.
“This whole year was really good for us. And we are satisfied about that.”
Red Bull will be raring to go and will hope that their hard work over the winter months pays off when the season starts in Australia.
