Lewis Hamilton is driven by fun, not money
Lewis Hamilton says he is not driven by money in F1, instead saying that the fun and the competition he has behind the wheel is the main reason he keeps turning up year after year. Hamilton took his sixth world title in 2019, despite plenty of young talent on the grid gunning for his crown.
With the cash-fuelled world of F1, some drivers could be accused of hanging on to their careers just for the money, but this isn't the case for Hamilton and he says the fun will always outweigh the money side.
He was ask what drives him by Auto Motor und Sport in an interview at the Brazilian Grand Prix: "Certainly not money. That is a bonus.
"What drives me is the fun of racing. I like the competition. I love to know that there are all these young talents who beat me, want to outsmart me.
"And then I try to beat these guys. I work with people who are so much smarter than me and who I can still teach them otherwise."
