Daniil Kvyat satisfied with F1 comeback: "Much better than previous years"
Daniil Kvyat's Formula 1 career has been one of ups and downs. Having been promoted to Red Bull Racing in 2016, he was then dropped and forced to spend some time away from the sport. The Russian showed true strength of character to make his Formula 1 comeback and has enjoyed his return.
It was brutal for Kvyat back in 2016 when he was told that Max Verstappen got his place at Red Bull after only five races. It looked like his F1 career over, especially when he also lost his place with the sister team, Toro Rosso.
However, Daniel Ricciardo's shock departure from Red Bull came at a point where there was no talent waiting in the teams program. Helmut Marko decided that he would give the Russian another chance. A rarity in the world of Formula 1.
“I am very pleased with last year. Some races are doing well, and some are disappointing. That's how it works in midfield," Kvyat said to Motorsport.com.
“It was certainly a good year for Toro Rosso, perhaps the best ever. I myself was also a much better driver than in my previous years in Formula 1.”
Kvyat has retained his seat for next season and will look to win the battle against his teammate, Pierre Gasly.
