Daniel Ricciardo reveals the name of his biggest F1 rival
Daniel Ricciardo has had a number of on-track rivalries during his years within Formula 1. Most notably would be his battles with Sebastian Vettel and later Max Verstappen during his time at Aston Martin Red Bull Racing. Yet the Australian fails to label those drivers as he greatest rival. Instead, it's a rivalry which goes back further than F1...
"I'll end up with Bottas," says the Australian when asked by Top Gear Magazine who his biggest rival of the current Formula 1 field is. “We often raced against each other in the junior series. I didn't go karting in Europe, so I don't really have a driver that I fought for the first time at the age of ten. Bottas, however, was there when I started racing in Europe, and I think somehow we had some kind of rivalry."
In the 2008 Formula Renault Eurocup, Ricciardo and Bottas competed together for the championship. The Australian fell three points short of the Finn's final tally. When the pair met in the Marlboro Masters, Bottas also reigned supreme. A trend which has continued now in their time in Formula 1.
