Stage eight of Dakar Rally called off after Paulo Gonçalves death
Stage eight of the Dakar Rally has been called off for the motorbikes and quads following the death of Paulo Gonçalves.
The organisations and participants took the decision following the accident during stage seven in Saudi Arabia. Paulo Gonçalves was found unconscious and immediately taken to hospital but tragically passed away.
It has now been confirmed the Portuguese driver suffered a cardiac arrest as a result of his injuries. Stage eight will be cancelled to allow the drivers to mourn Gonçalves's passing.
