Claire Williams has a simple request for Russell: "More of the same"
Claire Williams would like to see "more of the same" from George Russell during the 2020 Formula 1 season. The British driver didn't pick up a single point last season but out-qualified Robert Kubica in every single event.
The Mercedes junior driver remains at Williams but will form a new partnership with Nicholas Latifi. Boss Williams says she wants to give him a car which will be capable of showing off his skills.
"George did such a good job last year. We just need more of the same George and I have no doubts [that] he'll deliver in the way he did last year. I know that George just wants to be given a race car that he can actually show some of his real talent and the onus is on us in order to do that," Williams said in an interview with Motorsport-week.
"He’s been working hard, he’s in Lanzarote for is training camp, and he’s really keen to get back into the car and see where it is."
A better Williams?
The Williams car is reported to have passed the crash tests for the coming season. Delays from this 12 months ago meant the British team turned up late to pre-season testing. As a result, they were on the backfoot before a wheel was even turned. In an earlier interview, Williams suggested she's quietly confident a lot of the problems have been ironed out.
