Helmut Marko on the best young driver outside of the Red Bull Junior Team
Helmut Marko has helped develop the career of a number of drivers. Both Sebastian Vettel and Max Verstappen came through and into Formula 1 under his wing. The Aston Martin Red Bull Racing Junior Team doesn't stop there. The likes of Pierre Gasly, Alex Albon are showing their skills in the F1 world championship. But who is the best young driver outside the team?
When Marko is asked by Motorsport-total who is the greatest talent that is not under contract with Red Bull, the team advisor does not hesitate for a moment: "Leclerc, without a doubt Leclerc."
The chances are, Verstappen and Charles Leclerc will be fighting for race wins and world championships throughout the next decade. Both men are part of a large team where a lot is possible financially. There is a good chance that Red Bull and Ferrari will fight for victory even after the legislative changes, despite the 'budget cap'.
Mick Schumacher
The son of record champion Michael Schumacher is currently in Formula 2 but will one day make an appearance in Formula 1. At least that is the expectation, certainly with the surname he carries. Marko also expects that the young German will one day end up in the F1: "Hopefully not only because of his name but also because of his sporting achievements."
Mick Schumacher is not doing badly, he won Formula 3 in 2018 and got a victory in Formula 2 last season.
