Antonio Giovinazzi: "I would lie if I said that I don't dream about Ferrari"
Antonio Giovinazzi has admitted that he has dreams of driving for Ferrari and he believes that it is possible if he continues to work hard. Ferrari would like nothing more than an Italian driver racing for them and if Sebastian Vettel fails to perform in 2020, perhaps the Alfa Romeo driver could be called up.
“I would lie if I said that I don't dream about Ferrari. The most important thing is that I fully concentrate on my work, but I know I have a chance if I perform well in 2020. I already have a great relationship with Charles. I speak to him a lot and we go to the same restaurants in Monaco," Giovinazzi told La Gazetta dello Sport.
“Defeating Kimi is one of my goals for this season, but that's not the only one. It will be a crucial season, but it is always when you are after a contract extension or promotion. He doesn't talk much and at first he didn't help me, because his results were so much better and the gap was rather big.
"But he was an important benchmark for me to grow as a professional."
Giovinazzi will have to continue to develop if he is going to live his dream. For starters, he will need to convincingly defeat Raikkonen this season and then hope that Vettel doesn't perform well and maybe he'll get a shot in 2020.
