Bottas: "I see no reason not to use DAS in Melbourne"
Mercedes caused quite the stir when they showed off their DAS system on the second day of testing and Valtteri Bottas wants to jump straight into using, insisting he sees no reason why not.
The Finn topped the timesheets on both weeks of pre-season testing in Barcelona and but it was Mercedes' steering wheel that caught the headlines as the world of motorsport discussed whether or not it was legal.
It'll be legal for 2020 and Bottas sees no reason why not to use it in Melbourne.
“We certainly learn more and more about round to round. With the test days, the engineers have more time to learn from the data and they can draw up more guidelines for us on how we can best use the system," Bottas told a press conference which GP Blog attended.
"In what kind of situations it can yield an advantage, how large that advantage can be and on which circuits we can best use it, there is still a big question mark.
“We are happy to have it in the car. It all goes quite smoothly and it already starts to feel automatically, you don't have to think much about it and we now use what we think is the best way.
