Villeneuve about coronavirus-break: ''Mental challenge for the drivers''
- GPblog.com
Like the rest of the world, Formula 1 is at a standstill due to the coronavirus. The break doesn't come at a bad time for the staff of F1 teams, because they can finally get some rest, but for the drivers it's different.
At least, that's what Jacques Villeneuve confronts Sky Sports Italia with. The 1996 world champion knows better than anyone what it is for the drivers. A long break is not good for them at all, according to the Canadian whose home race will probably not even take place in 2020.
Mental challenge for F1 drivers
''The staff can only make good use of this break because they can work from home and get some rest. For the drivers it is not much different. Normally they're all doing well and they'll get that salary'', says Villeneuve.
However, according to Villeneuve the coming period could be mentally difficult. ''Some people still have to make decisions and if you stand still for a long time you have more time to think about it. Some will think about their future now as well,'' concludes Jacques.
