Due to the coronavirus, several races on the F1 calendar have already been postponed or cancelled. As a result, teams are losing a lot of sponsor income. This also applies to the team of Haas. They are dependent on the sponsor income and team boss Guenther Steiner also sees that the question of whether Haas will get through the current corona crisis.

"You can't determine the economic damage yet, because you don't know exactly how many races we're going to drive", Steiner tells Auto, Motor und Sport. "We don't have the situation under control because it doesn't depend on us. I think that the sponsors understand if a few races are cancelled". According to Steiner, the teams have no influence on the continuation or postponement of the races. "There is no input from the teams. The decision will be made by the FIA, the Formula 1 management and the local organizers".

All ten teams to start

According to Steiner, it is important that all teams get through these difficult times. "The first goal of all, I think, is for all ten teams to start in Melbourne next year". Haas had a tough year last year, finishing ninth in the final constructors championship. This year they had hoped to do better, but because of COVID-19 they haven't had a chance to prove themselves yet.

"We have a situation we can't change. We have to deal with it realistically. We get less money, but we all want to stay in business. We need to agree on cuts that can make the sport more interesting in the future. That we all come closer together. We don't have to see the negative, we have to see the positive."
