Gerhard Berger personally thinks that Formula 1 and the race classes below it will not be raced again until August or September. The boss of BMW adds that Formula 1 will probably change as a result of the corona virus.

"We have to make ends meet for the coming months to be prepared for the time after the coronavirus," says Bergerin talking to Auto Bild. With the German medium, the former Formula 1 driver further expresses his opinion that motor sport will be at a standstill for some time to come. "It's just my personal opinion, but I don't think we will see any races before August or even September. Not even in Formula 1."

Formula 1 will change

All Formula 1 teams now have to deal with roughly the same costs, but much less income. It could mean the bankruptcy of many motorsport teams, especially since they are already struggling in the royal class of motorsport. When the 2020 season starts soon, Formula 1 will have changed a lot, according to BMW top man Jens Marquardt. "In my opinion, the times when terrible sums of money are spent on motor sport are over."

"But motor racing remains important. Formula E is a good example. For us it is an innovation and technology laboratory", Marquardt continues his story. "When I hear that a Formula One team employs two thousand people for two cars... Even if everything goes back to the way it was before, you can't justify such astronomical costs with a clear conscience."
