Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya is willing to collaborate on a solution for organizing the Grands Prix, now that many races have been postponed or cancelled by the coronavirus. In an interview Joan Fontserè, director of the circuit, indicates that he is willing to cooperate with FOM to come to a solution together.
"With F1, we talked about different scenarios. One is that the season starts before the summer, another is that the season starts in September", Fontserè informs SoyMotor.com. "We've also been asked if we want it behind closed doors. We said yes to that, as long as it helps us to have a championship this year".
New terms and conditions needed
When a race doesn't have an audience, some things change, according to Fontserè. "If a race doesn't have an audience, the main sources of income that a promoter would receive disappear. Of course, when a GP is considered behind closed doors, the terms of an agreement should be different".
Also several Grands Prix on a circuit is being considered in Barcelona, according to the director. "If we think that Barcelona can offer that possibility, know that we can organize a Grand Prix in a short period of time". The circuit is already looking to the future with a skewed eye. "We also have our eyes on the future. We will look at the possibilities to still organize a Grand Prix in the coming years".
