Verstappen impressed: "Didn't know this car had so much grip"

Last week Max Verstappen participated in a special edition of Real Racers Never Quit, in which he drove a 1978 Lotus 79. A classic car that was chosen to honour the legends of Formula 1. A car that surprised Verstappen in the simulator quite a bit because of its enormous grip.

Not only do the 1978 cars look completely different, also their whole driving behaviour is completely different compared to today's F1 cars. The aerodynamics, for example, is something that immediately catches the eye, it is much less complex. In comparison the car does have more wing and that provides a lot of grip, which Verstappen has experienced.
At Speedweek.com the Dutchman says: "It went better and better. I didn't know Oulton Park at all, but I think it's a very cool track, especially with such a wing car that builds up an enormous amount of grip". Apparently he liked that very much, because he concludes with the praising words: "It's a fantastic car to drive".
Here's the race to look back on.
