Ferrari: ''Binotto has not said that we are going to leave Formula 1''
- GPblog.com
In an interview with The Guardian, Mattia Binotto said that the team is thinking about leaving Formula 1, but Ferrari has said in a statement that something like this has never been said.
''We want to make it clear that Mattia never said in his interview with The Guardian that Ferrari will leave Formula 1 at a lower budget cap. Indeed, Mattia has just indicated that Ferrari does not want to look for other options to race outside F1'', can be read in the statement.
The misunderstanding
''The misunderstanding soon became clear after the misleading headline above the article, but has also been adapted directly'', said Ferrari. According to the previous statement, the team would consider leaving F1 if the budget cap was even lower than $145 million, but that is not the case. On the contrary, Ferrari wants to find a solution that allows it to remain active in the sport.
The budget cap remains an important topic of discussion. Formula 1 is at an important point to determine which way it wants to go. Many teams want a lower budget cap, but Ferrari and Red Bull Racing are not jumping because of all the staff that have to be fired. So for the time being a status quo.
