Charles Leclerc impressed Ferrari fans during his first year for the famous red car brand. The followers of the scuderia compare him to the famous Gilles Villeneuve, but the Monegask doesn't want to know anything about it.
He won twice in his debut year, was on pole seven times and defeated teammate and quadruple world champion Sebastian Vettel. Not a bad start for Ferrari. So do Ferrari fans in Italy, who like to compare the young driver to the legendary Gilles Villeneuve.
In an interview with the Gazzetta dello Sport, the current Ferrari driver indicates that he thinks this comparison is too early. "You can't compare me to Gilles Villeneuve yet, so please don't. Before I am on a par with such big names I have to work very hard", the Monegask is modest.
Gilles Villeneuve
Jacques Villeneuve's father rode between 1977 and 1982 for the Italian race stables and came to six victories. Despite his modest CV at Ferrari, the Canadian impressed the fans with his sensational performances. He was known for his all-or-nothing driving style.
