Pierre Gasly was recently asked in an AlphaTauri Live Chat with fans what his ideal circuit looks like. This while the driver was still stuck in Dubai. He prefers to see this circuit close to his house, so he can practice a lot.
Fast corners
"Track design, I think a mix of all the corners that I like", Gasly says. "My favourite track, for qualifying especially, is Monaco as you get such an adrenaline rush. I love Spa, I like high-speed corners in general, so Suzuka. Quite technical, I like Budapest and Silverstone. The problem is I like most tracks in general. So maybe just take one corner of each."
Gasly also prefers the Marina Bay street circuit in Singapore, where he finished eighth last season. "I like long tracks too like Singapore which has many corners."
Rain
The young Frenchman says he'd like to see a rain race. "I grew up in Normandy and I got to drive under the rain quite often, I do like it because you get more sliding and it makes it a bit more challenging." On its ideal circuit, Gasly would choose to race with today's F1 cars. "as they're the fastest", says the AlphaTauri driver. "But I would have loved to try F1 cars from the past in the 1970s or 1980s."
