App for coronavirus during Austrian GP? "Then we'll be warned immediately"
- GPblog.com
The Austrian Grand Prix really seems to take place at the beginning of July, but the Austrian authorities consider it vitally important that extraordinary safety measures are taken. Everyone who will be present on the circuit should have as little contact as possible with the outside world in order to minimize the risk of contamination of the coronavirus. Alex Wurz has come up with something that can help.
Wurz is president of the trade union GPDA (Grand Prix Drivers' Association) which represents all Formula 1 drivers. The former racing driver proposed to use an app. "It would allow us to be tracked on our mobile phone so that if something happens we would be informed immediately," he explained.
Drivers are already used to procedure
According to the Austrian, it should not pose a major problem for drivers, as they are already accustomed to a similar anti-doping procedure: "Every professional athlete, including those in Formula 1, should make his position known every day," adds the former Benetton driver in an interview with ORF.
Wurz briefly explains how he sees the operation of the app in front of him. "If someone gets infected, it immediately warns all the others and the need for quarantine for those who have come into contact with him. In this way, people would be contacted and instructed immediately," he concludes. However, the question is whether such a thing will be the solution. What do you think?
