'Hamilton only driver who recently built a team around him'

Since Nico Rosberg quit Formula 1 after winning the championship, the Mercedes Formula 1 team seems to be all about Lewis Hamilton. According to former F1-driver Robert Doornbos, this makes him the only driver of the current generation who can be compared to Michael Schumacher.
"Michael Schumacher is simply the best of all time," says Doornbos about the seven-time world champion when he puts together his ultimate team for Motorsport.com. "A very special man. He was also one of the few people who could fully control a team and change teams to become a champion there as well."
Several drivers of the current generation have tried to repeat this trick. Especially Fernando Alonso and Sebastian Vettel have been a dominant factor within that team in their time at Ferrari, but this has never led to championships. The man who managed to do so after switching from another successful team is Lewis Hamilton.
"I think Lewis Hamilton is the only other driver in recent history who has shown that by being successful at both McLaren and Mercedes," said Doornbos. In any case, the statistics speak for this statement of the former Red Bull Racing driver. Hamilton is well on its way to Schumacher's records and in theory only needs one season to at least match them.
