Hakkinen: "Everything will be different at Ferrari"
- GPblog.com
It has been over a week since Carlos Sainz was announced as a new man at Ferrari from 2021. However, ex world champion Mika Hakkinen has his doubts whether the Spaniard will succeed at the Scuderia.
Praising words
Hakkinen praises what Sainz and Lando Norris have shown in their first year together at McLaren. The team seems to be slowly returning to the top and with Sainz also achieved their first podium since 2014.
Sainz at Ferrari
"At Ferrari everything will be different", says Hakkinen in the Unibet podcast. "I won't say it won't work, but now he really has to deliver. Now he has to show his true talent and potential. Otherwise it will be terribly difficult. Of course that applies to every driver in every team, but history has shown us that Ferrari is not the easiest team."
"Carlos must be extremely professional in every aspect. You don't go to Ferrari to learn, you have to deliver full tubs right away. You have to have self-confidence, a lot of knowledge and also know exactly what is asked of you. If one of those things is missing, you will be crucified immediately. And that's normal with a top team", says Hakkinen.
Hakkinen expects that Sainz will have to make a big change from the 'friendly' McLaren, where you soon feel comfortable according to the Finn. "If there is no clear communication at Ferrari, things go wrong", he ends.
