Formula 1 is about to start again. As of July 5th it will finally be possible to see another Formula 1 race in Austria, although it will have to be on television. For the time being the calendar consists of eight races, but more will follow.
In the statement of Formula 1 it is stated that there is still a focus on fifteen to eighteen races in 2020. ''Due to the ongoing developments surrounding the COVID-19 situation internationally, F1 will finalize the details of the broader calendar and hope to publish in the coming weeks with an expectation of having a total of 15-18 races to complete the season in December'', reads the statement.
Still more races
Chase Carey continues. ''Over the past few weeks we have worked tirelessly with all our partners, the FIA and the teams to create a revised opening calendar for 2020 so that we can restart the race in the safest way possible. We are pleased to be able to set our opening calendar for eight races today and look forward to publishing our full calendar in the coming weeks'.
"I would like to thank every promoter and partner for their support and continued commitment to Formula 1. Although at the moment we expect that the season will start without fans during our races, we hope that in the coming months the situation will allow us to welcome them back as soon as it is safe to do so, but we know that the return of Formula 1 will be a welcome incentive for sports fans around the world", concludes Carey.
