In recent years Fernando Alonso has developed into a versatile driver who is immediately fast in the material you give him. The last few weeks he has also proven this in the simulator. He joined the Legends Trophy of The Race late, but since then nobody else has won.
On Saturday night, when his McLaren teammates started the actual IndyCar season, Alonso already won his fifth race in a row in the Legends Trophy. This time at the Monaco circuit, taking the first step towards achieving the virtual 'Triple Crown'. The Race will also organize a race at Indianapolis and Le Mans.
For his victory in Monaco he had to beat IndyCar legend Helio Castroneves. The Brazilian took the lead after a good start, but didn't have the speed to be at the front of the race. In the end Alonso won with more than ten seconds ahead of Juan Pablo Montoya and Jan Magnussen.
Alonso also leads the championship with 90 points, followed by Montoya (88), touring car legend Andy Priaulx (76), Castroneves (70) and Magnussen (66).
That’s a win in Monaco and the 5th consecutive !! Always fun to drive on those streets ! Thanks @Allinsports_srl ! #legendstrophy pic.twitter.com/a3EqfF7PNr
