Formula 1 will start again in a week and a half. On Friday 3 July the first free practice sessions of 2020 will take place on the Austrian Red Bull Ring. Many teams chose to test with older cars to get used to the new corona measures.

Paranoid

Technical director of Mercedes James Allison said that teams are left "utterly paranoid" to ensure that the changes in working procedures do not harm the ultimate performance of the team. Adding tests was therefore crucial according to him.

"A very particular and unusual working environment means that there are an awful lot of considerations that we, as a team, and as a whole industry, have had to bring to bare to try to make it so we can race in this new and hopefully not long-lasting world of dealing with COVID-19", said Allison during a Mercedes video.

Pinch points

"We will have found out where all the pinch points are and we will have a chance to put them right ahead of when it really counts, the first race of the year", concludes Allison.
