In recent days there are again a number of rumours about the contractual situation of Lewis Hamilton at Mercedes. The six-time world champion is said to be making heavy demands, but according to the British driver none of this is true at all.
Hamilton would only put his signature to a new commitment at the moment he is going to earn 44 million euros at Mercedes. However, the Brackley-based race stable doesn't seem to intend to do so and is said to be aiming for half of that amount: 22 million euros.

In Austria, Hamilton also gets the rumours. The 35-year-old driver makes a strong statement via Instagram: "Morning. So the media keep writing about contract and me making demands but I haven't even spoken with Toto about it yet. No demands, the conversation hasn't even begun. So please stop making shit up."
Valtteri Bottas' teammate's contract expires next season. It is expected that Hamilton will extend his contract, because there are few other options now that Ferrari has decided to contract Carlos Sainz at an early stage to replace the outgoing Sebastian Vettel.
