Max Verstappen reacts to retirement: "Podium was very easily achievable"
Max Verstappen lost at least fifteen points in the battle for the World Championship on Sunday afternoon. The Red Bull Racing driver suffered a technical issue which forced him to retire. It might not have been a victory, but a podium place would have been achievable without any problems for the RB16.
"I suddenly lost power and couldn't get out of the anti-stall," said Verstappen to Sky Sports. The 22-year old doesn't yet know exactly what caused the problem. "I don't know exactly yet. We will know later.
"This is not how you want to start."
Verstappen sees fast Bottas
Verstappen didn't think that victory was likely but hoped to finish his weekend better than he did. "Uhm, you saw pretty soon that Bottas was fast, I was really trying to drive my own speed. It had easily become a podium place in any case. Anyway, what can you do about it?"
