Leclerc couldn't be happier: "Best race since I've been in Formula 1"

Nobody expected Charles Leclerc to be on the podium on Sunday after the troubling F1 qualifying session for Ferrari on Saturday. Yet it happened and Leclerc is very happy with his race.

"I see this as one of my best races since I've been in Formula 1. I made very little mistakes today and I'm extremely happy with the result, the strategy and the choices of the team. The start of the race was very boring, but in the end, it all paid off," said Leclerc in a video call from the FIA after the Grand Prix.

Leclerc his best race

Leclerc took maximum advantage of all the failures and penalties around him during the Austrian Grand Prix. Ferrari clearly didn't have the speed to compete for the victory, but after a penalty for Hamilton and Alexander Albon's incident combined with Max Verstappen's retirement, Leclerc was there to pick up the points.

"At the end of the race, it was exciting with Lando behind me on softer tyres. In turn four, however, he finally managed to pass me and for that, I really had to wait for the right moment. He had lost some time because of his duel with Sergio and that gave me the opportunity to attack him," concludes Leclerc after his second place.
