Mercedes afraid of problems under pressure from Verstappen

Mercedes had major problems with the kerbstones on the Red Bull Ring during the Austrian Grand Prix last week. Both Valtteri Bottas and Lewis Hamilton were told to stay away from it. That will not be much different this weekend despite the positive news.

Whether the problems will recur during the race will depend a lot on Max Verstappen's race. If the driver of Red Bull Racing can put pressure on the Mercedes drivers, the team doesn't have the luxury of avoiding the kerbstones.

Austria specific problem

"There'll be lapsyou won't have a chance not to use them. Wherever Max is - leading or behind us - just driving around quietly and avoiding the kerbstones will not be possible [for Mercedes]", has team boss Toto Wolff signed up by Motorsport.com.

"It's about the constant slaughter of the suspension - that will give us a headache. So once we are in our position, we will try to avoid the kerbstones. It's a very Austria-specific subject."
