Verstappen expects no problems at Mercedes: "Stop them once more"
Towards the end of the British Grand Prix, Max Verstappen managed to win an extra position due to a flat tyre from Valtteri Bottas. The Dutchman just doesn't expect the same problems for Mercedes next week.
In front of the cameras of Ziggo Sport, Max Verstappen is clearly satisfied after the British Grand Prix.
"Yes, a nice result, although of course, we had a bit of luck. In general back on the podium. For me, it was actually a very boring race until the last three laps, but in itself a fine race," the Dutchman said.
Verstappen even had enough time to make jokes with his engineer.
"I was riding on my own anyway. I think I tell my engineer that he also needs to drink enough. I don't have much to do in a race like that, two cars in front of me driving away and a bigger hole behind me. Only at the start I had to work for a while because I was stuck with Bottas after that everything was good again," the Red Bull driver explained.
Flat tyres at Mercedes
The Dutchman also doesn't feel robbed because Hamilton crossed the finish line with a flat tyre.
"If Bottas hadn't had a flat tyre, you'd be third. So we just got lucky and won one spot. And the extra point for fastest lap is always nice too.
"I don't think Mercedes will worry about the extra soft tyres next week, they'll just make an extra stop. They are fast enough after all," concluded Verstappen.
