'Announcement of Vettel's transfer to Racing Point postponed'
- GPblog.com
There are more and more rumours that Sebastian Vettel will be driving for the Racing Point team next year. According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the change would be announced this weekend, but that news will be postponed by Sergio Perez.
The news that Sebastian Vettel will have to say goodbye to Ferrari at the end of 2020 earlier this year struck like a bomb. Since then, the four-time world champion has been busy trying to find a seat for next year.
He seems to have succeeded now, because on the paddock there is a rumour that the German is going to drive for Racing Point. According to La Gazzetta dello Sport the news should be announced during the upcoming race weekend. That announcement seems to be postponed however. Vettel will allegedly take over the seat from Sergio Perez, but he seems to miss the Grand Prix weekend again due to his coronavirus infection.
Commercially interesting
The transfer of Sebastian Vettel to Racing Point would not only be interesting for the team, since the racing qualities of the four-time world champion are undeniable. Commercially, the transfer would also be a great asset for Aston Martin. The car manufacturer will be the sponsor of Racing Point from 2021 and Germany is the second market for the company. Vettel must therefore become the figurehead of Aston Martin and ensure even more sales.
