This weekend there will be raced at the Silverstone circuit for the second week in a row. According to Toyoharu Tanabe of Honda, last week's Grand Prix is proof that progress is being made by the engine manufacturer.
In the last couple of years Red Bull Racing has always had to draw its strength from Grands Prix which focus on the chassis and not the engine. On so-called power circuits, the team has always had to compete with the more powerful cars of Mercedes and Ferrari. With the help of Honda, this problem has to be solved.
According to the technical director of Honda F1, Toyoharu Tanabe, last week's race proved that steps are being taken in that area. "Last weekend three of our four cars finished in the points in tricky conditions, which at a high speed track like Silverstone is encouraging and proves we are making progress. We are now trying to improve our performance, referring to the data we acquired from our two teams last weekend," said the Japanese in the Team Preview of Honda.
Not an easy race
Despite the good results during the British Grand Prix, it will not be an easy task according to Tanabe to finish high in the rankings this weekend. "Once again, it won’t be easy race, with both teams facing strong opponents , but we’ll try to have a good race, building on the momentum from the previous one", Honda's top man concluded.
