Verstappen: "Fortunately we got through Q2 with those tyres"
Max Verstappen is not satisfied with his qualifying position. He knows that his car should be faster at the Racing Point during the race and that's why he just goes for the podium on Sunday.
Faster than Racing Point
“We tried something different. Fortunately, we got through Q2 with those [hard] tyres. In the end, a fourth place is not quite as we wanted. You can clearly see that Racing Point has taken a step and it is of course nice that Nico starts in third place. It would be great if such a result could result in a seat for next year for him," says Verstappen at Ziggo Sport.
“Normally we are faster in the race. It didn't help that I have been riding on all kinds of different tyres soft, medium, hard, hard, medium," the Red Bull Racing driver laughs. “But in general not really had a top balance in the car with the wind. That is the same for everyone, but our car seems very sensitive to it. ”
Another strategy for Verstappen
Verstappen was asked if he would like to continue driving for as long as possible on the hard tyre he will start on tomorrow. "It's a different strategy, I don't think anyone is going for a one-stopper."
