Ocon receives three-place grid penalty after blocking Russell
After qualifying for the second Silverstone Grand Prix, a grid penalty was handed out to Esteban Ocon. The Renault driver was eleventh after qualifying, but the grid penalty pushes him back to fourteenth place. He receives the grid penalty for getting in the way of George Russell in qualifying.
During the first qualifying session, the Brit was on a fast lap when he ran into Ocon coming up the straight. The Williams driver had to brake hard and was forced to give up his fast lap. During Q1 it was already indicated that the stewards will investigate after qualifying and the judgment is quickly made.
Vettel to P11
Due to the grid penalty, the Frenchman drops to fourteenth place. This puts Sebastian Vettel, Carlos Sainz and Romain Grosjean up a spot on the starting grid. Russell himself will start in 15th place, so he will not benefit from the grid penalty for the Renault driver.
