OFFICIAL: Perez tested negative for COVID-19 and is allowed to enter Barcelona
- GPblog.com
Just before the start of the British Grand Prix, now almost two weeks ago, it was announced that Sergio Perez had tested positive for corona. It meant a stroke through the account of the Mexican for both races at the Silverstone circuit. After a negative test he is now fortunately allowed to drive again.
The team was very anxious to get Perez back in the car as soon as possible and now they have succeeded in doing so for the Spanish Grand Prix. Although Hulkenberg turned out to be an excellent substitute, Racing Point is also contractually bound to Perez and the sponsors of the Mexican bring in a lot of money.
Perez the team leader
In addition, Perez made an excellent impression before he tested positive for COVID-19. Of the two Racing Point cars it was he who drove Red Bull Racing and Alexander Albon during the races on the Red Bull Ring. Although he wasn't feeling well already in Hungary and therefore missed out on a chance for a good classification, he is now expected to take up the role of team leader again.
