Max Verstappen looks back with satisfaction after Friday in Barcelona. The Red Bull Racing driver finished the Friday afternoon session in third position, just like in the morning session. But he was at a distance from both Mercedes.

Comparison with winter tests

"All these things are a bit more difficult to say, because it’s so much warmer now. So whatever you learn in winter testing is not really relevant. But i think the car was performing quite okay today. Over one lap we’re lacking pace over Mercedes. I think it was a positive day, especially over the longruns," the Dutchman told the Sky Sports F1 cameras.

"We are using the hardest compound, it’s okay, it’s managable. I would’ve liked it a bit softer but it is what it is. I think the compounds are so hard, so you don’t have to go as extreme as we did in the second weekend in Silverstone," the 22 year old driver continues.

Qualifying

"In qualifying I don’t think [we can beat Mercedes] they are quite fast. Who knows in the race, I felt great in the car today. Let’s see on Sunday if it’s going the same." Verstappen ends.
