Binotto and Wolff agree: "We must be united"

It goes fast in Formula 1, in the most literal sense of the word. Because of the Pirelli tyres it doesn't always seem that way during the races, but the 2020 cars are the fastest F1 cars ever. Because the regulations for 2021 remain the same, it is expected that the next year and a half will only be faster.
The FIA put a stop to that last week. For 2021, the amount of downward pressure will be reduced for safety reasons. There are concerns that the Pirelli tyres will not be able to cope with further loading.
These adjustments (previously the floor for 2021 were also adjusted for the same purpose) to the aerodynamics come at an awkward moment. All teams will be busy with the car for next year. However, Mattia Binotto and Toto Wolff will be able to make the decision.
Teams willing to work together
"It affects all cars and our research and development, but I'm aware that it's necessary for safety and that always comes first," said Binotto to Motorsport.com and others.
"We have to form a unit," Toto Wolff adds. "As Mattia said, the car has become faster than everyone expected, and in that respect we can't expect Pirelli to catch up with new tyres. So in this case we have to work together."
