Ocon does not believe Ricciardo is behind and gets a new Renault engine

Esteban Ocon has been struggling in the Renault since the beginning of the season. The gap to teammate Daniel Ricciardo is still very big, but Renault is going to help him now. The Frenchman will get a new engine and gearbox.
Ocon gets a new engine
The difference between Ocon and Ricciardo is almost three tenths on average this season and therefore Ocon is not as bad as some other second drivers. However, Ocon has lost five times in qualifying to Ricciardo and is also behind in the standings. From the Belgian Grand Prix onwards, however, Ocon will benefit from a new engine and gearbox.
''The Belgian Grand Prix will be a new start for me. We still have to analyse everything, but now I'll get a new gearbox and engine. We were not satisfied with the difference with Daniel. We hope this will bring me closer to Ricciardo, although the straight wasn't the only thing I lost on him'', says Ocon according to Motorsport.it.
Prohibition on qualifying mode
After a new chassis for Sebastian Vettel, Ocon is already the second driver to have parts replaced on his car to explain the gap to his teammate. ''We'll see if there's a difference. Time will tell, but I think that it will work'', said Ocon who is happy with the announced ban on qualifying mode.
''In the races we are competitive, so with that qualifying mode out of the way, that can be an advantage for us. McLaren is close to us, but that will continue because they use the same engine. The changes for everyone are the same, but we hope that the field brings a little closer together'', concludes the Renault driver.
