The FIA announced in a statement that a total of 2,847 corona tests were carried out among drivers, teams and staff between 14 and 20 August. One person tested positive from these tests.
The FIA will not disclose who this person is or what team he or she works for. The FIA also states that the low number of total tests is due to the fact that there will be no Grand Prix this weekend.
More than 20,000 tests in total
The FIA has done a total of more than 20,000 tests since the Championship began and this is only the fifth positive case in the paddock. The remaining positive tests came before the Hungarian Grand Prix where two people had to be quarantined. Sergio Perez is so far the only driver who tested positive and the only one who also got two positive tests back.
