Heidfeld points to Albon's pain: ''Otherwise he will go under to Verstappen''

Max Verstappen is making a big impression at Red Bull Racing this season. The Dutchman interferes with a lesser car in the title race and earns praise from former Formula 1 driver Nick Heidfeld.
Verstappen and Red Bull's goal this year was to compete for the world title. Verstappen had to become the youngest world champion, but the car will not be ready for that in 2020. Max proves to be, because with the clearly inferior car he still often struggles between and sometimes even for both Mercedes drivers.
Pressure on Albon increases
''Verstappen's performance impresses me this season. He's really great. He keeps on developing and driving the team forward. He doesn't accept the status quo and continues to give everything to find out with his team Mercedes'', says Heidfeld in his column for Sky Germany. However, the performance of Verstappen has repercussions for Alexander Albon.
''His team mate just doesn't arrive and this time it's Albon. Of course the car was developed for Verstappen, but that doesn't explain the huge gap. Red Bull now supports him very openly, but his self-confidence has already been damaged. However, he needs that support, otherwise he will go under at Verstappen'', concludes Heidfeld.
