One of the reasons why Max Verstappen was able to stay ahead of a Mercedes again at the Spanish Grand Prix was Red Bull Racing's lightning-fast pit stop. Something the team has a subscription to nowadays. Christian Horner explains how this is possible in his column for Redbull.com.
Red Bull Racing has taken over Williams' position as the team with the fastest pit stops in recent years. In Spain they set another record and were the fastest in all six races so far this year. What is their secret?
Stabilty with good people at Red Bull
"It's a combination of factors," says Horner. "It starts with our sports director, Jonathan Weatley, and then our chief mechanic, Phil Turner. Plus there is a strict training schedule that our 'human performance team' has put in place."
Finally, there is also stability within the team. A fixed group of people who all want to be the fastest. "There is real pride in perfecting those pit stops. Everyone wants to be part of the pit stop crew and there is a healthy competition for those places".
