Red Bull Racing could not make a fist during the Belgian Grand Prix last Sunday. Max Verstappen was well behind the two Mercedes drivers and according to Helmut Marko some mistakes were made.

Red Bull Racing seemed to be able to join the Mercedes drivers with Verstappen on Friday, but on Saturday and Sunday the German team turned out to be too strong again. Also the expected rain didn't come and that plagued Red Bull. According to Marko the team had become too dependent on that.

Red Bull made the mistake according to Marko

''We made a mistake by leaning too much on the weather forecast. We therefore adjusted the car more to the rain and therefore with more downforce. As a result we ended up with too little speed on the straight'', says the top man of Red Bull Racing in the broadcast of ServusTV.

''On the other hand, tyre wear was higher than we expected. We had planned a two-stop strategy, but with Daniel Ricciardo within 18 seconds, that wasn't possible. We did not drive any further away from him. In the end, we are glad that the tyres made it to the podium'', concludes Marko.
