F1 world reacts to Williams stepping down; Russell retains sense of humor
- GPblog.com
The news that not only Claire, but the whole Williams family will retire from their role within the team after the Italian Grand Prix, is not entirely surprising. Still, the reaction to their departure is mainly disappointment and sadness, although George Russell still sees room for a joke.
The current Williams driver will be asked at the press conference who will be his new team boss. A question that he obviously cannot answer and so he has his word ready. "I don't know if it has already been announced or not, but I am going to have a double role: driver and team manager".
George Russell asked about who will take over the running of the team after today's news at Williams:

"I'm not sure if it has been announced yet but I'm going to be taking on a driver/manager role, becoming team principal!" #F1
Furthermore, Russell and Nicholas Latifi call it a sad day. From other areas, people react to the news with great respect and regret that it had to come this far.

announcement of family stepping back from F1 emotionally hits. Had the honor to drive for Franks pure racing team in 2005 claiming my only Pole, on home grounds. My F1-fan eye even more vividly sees/cheers their cars partly dominating the 90s. #sad pic.twitter.com/zuQRX7sHQO
Reaction Claire Williams
Finally, there is a reaction from the current team boss himself. In it she especially thanks the fans, who remained loyal to the team even in the difficult times.
