During the free practice sessions at Monza, Ferrari again had to contend with some problems as expected, although this time their time lag was somewhat less than expected. Both Sebastian Vettel and Charles Leclerc think they will have a particularly difficult time during the race.

“Part of contributor for that in the race is obviously the balloon pressures that we are forced to run at, that doesn’t help," Vettel said as quoted by RaceFans.net on Friday afternoon. "It’s far away from, I think, where the tyres would like to run. But we have to obviously stick to the rules.”

Leclerc hopes for Q3

Vettel and Leclerc explained that the car has been very difficult to drive, especially with a lot of fuel in the tank. In addition to a lack of speed, the lack grip on all four tyres was cornering. The only positive thing that Leclerc was able to report was that their speed over one lap does not look as bad as thought.

"We had expected things to get worse on low fuel. We hope to reach Q3, but that is going to be exciting. If I am realistic, I have to say that we are not going to make it. The goal now is to be competitive both in qualifying and in the race."
