Results FP2: Mercedes, Red Bull and Renault look strong, Ferrari in top 10
The second free practice session for the Grand Prix of Tuscany showed how spectacular the circuit of Mugello can be.
Valtteri Bottas was the fastest with a time of 1:16.989. With this he improves his lap record from the first free practice and is already one and a half seconds faster than the former record of Rubens Barrichello from 2004.
Gap behind top three remains large
Behind Bottas was Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen. Once again the pattern of this season can be seen here, with Verstappen being the only one who can offer Mercedes some resistance. Albon in fourth place was more than six tenths slower than his team mate.
Just like in Spa and Monza, Renault seems to be leading the midfield here as well. Hopefully for them they will be able to turn this into a top result this week. Behind it is a jumble of drivers who can compete for the points, including the Ferrari drivers.
