Tanabe: "We have already started analysing the problem"
Max Verstappen was forced to retire from the Tuscan GP on the first lap. The Dutchman got away strong, but quickly found out that he was missing some power. Because of this he fell back into midfield and dropped out after a collision with other drivers. Toyoharu Tanabe says that the problem with the engine is already being investigated.
"Unfortunately, both Aston Martin Red Bull Racing and Scuderia AlphaTauri were down to just one car on the opening lap. Max lost a lot of places after the start because of a pu problem and then was knocked out in a mid-field collision that also ended Pierre’s race,” said Tanabe in a statement that appeared on Honda's Twitter channel.
Analysis already started
"So, although we are happy about Alex’s first podium, it is very disappointing to have had a power unit problem with Max, especially as he had looked to have good pace since Friday. We have already started analysing the problem back in the factory," continues Tanabe.
