Drivers want Mugello on the normal calendar: "Has exceeded expectations"
- GPblog.com
Prior to the Tuscan Grand Prix, there were many concerns as to whether Mugello would be exciting enough for Formula 1. Due to the many fast corners, drivers may not be able to follow each other very well, making it a big parade to the finish. However, things turned out completely differently and everyone now wants to see Mugello on the calendar for a longer period of time.
So are the drivers, including Charles Leclerc. "I had a great time last weekend and the whole track is just great. So I really like to see this track back on the normal calendar. Of course it was also a special race because there are red flags", he says to Motorsport.com.
Expectation was boring race
Leclerc did not expect that so much could be caught up with. "Before the race, I was actually a bit sceptical about how much and how often we could overtake on this track, but I have to say now that there really have been some overtaking on track". Not only Leclerc was positive about the track in Mugello, also Daniel Ricciardo was positively surprised.
"I think we all feared that we would love it in qualifying, but it would be very boring in the race because you could not follow each other. But it has clearly turned out to be a better race than expected. It was actually one of the most exciting races of the season, really not boring at all", Ricciardo concluded.
