Vettel feels sorry for Russell: ''Not the result he deserved''

George Russell was very close to the points at the Tuscan Grand Prix, but had to settle for 11th place in the end. Sebastian Vettel felt guilty and almost wanted to return the spot.
For a long time it seemed that Russell would score his first points in Formula 1. Before the crash of Lance Stroll, the Briton drove in ninth place and points seemed to be up for grabs. However, the restart after the red flag went wrong and after a battle with Romain Grosjean, Russell got stuck behind Vettel. Again no points for Russell.
Vettel feels sorry for Russell
''I felt a bit sorry for him, because I thought he drove great, especially for that last restart. He was faster than us and very consistent. He classified his race very well, but it wasn't supposed to be like that," said Vettel after the race opposite Ziggo Sport.
The German had even considered for a moment to leave him in front. ''I felt a bit sorry. He earned those points and I was still thinking about beating him in the last lap, but I would have had a call. He fought all the way to the front, but he didn't get the result he deserved," the Ferrari driver concludes.
