The FIA is confident that the rest of this season will go well, despite the onset of the coronary pandemic. The Motorsport Association also says that it believes it is possible to race again anywhere, provided the local authorities allow it.

So far it has been a fairly intensive season because of all the coronary problems. The pandemic caused the whole sport to be turned upside down and a whole new programme had to be made. Triple-headers have occurred several times this season. The drivers were not all equally happy about this, but for logistical reasons the FIA could not do otherwise at times.

"Protocol works well"

The union is now saying that it thinks they have their affairs in order, because of all the extensively tested corona protocols. "The travel restrictions of the various governments are the only problem for me at the moment," said Bruno Famin, FIA Operations Director in an interview with Motorsport.com. "We have also raced in certain countries where the corona situation was very bad. The protocol and people have proved that it works well in all circumstances".

"Now it depends more on the legal side of the story and travel restrictions that some countries have to deal with," Famin continues. Despite the fact that the number of positive corona cases has exploded in recent weeks, he is positive about the future. "From the outset it was important to avoid positive cases. But the most important thing for us was to create processes that allowed us to keep racing. Even with positive cases we should continue. The only thing to do is to nip that in the bud".
