Ilott not being lined up by Haas as it stands
- GPblog.com
Now that almost all seats in Formula 1 are taken for next year, especially with Mick Schumacher poised to drive for Alfa Romeo, Haas remain one of the few teams where anything is still possible.
Ferrari driver
On Friday Calum Ilott, currently runner-up in the Formula 2 championship, will take drive for Haas during the first free practice session. Despite this test, he is currently not a candidate for a seat at Haas. "I am very honest, he is not on the list at the moment. Maybe he will be on the list tomorrow, I don't know," Haas team boss Guenther Steiner told Motorsport.com. "If he does one thing he shouldn't do, he's definitely not on the list, like when he crashes the car."
One of the reasons he's not on the shortlist with Haas is because Ilott is a Ferrari driver. "He is their driver. I don't know what they are doing with him, what they are planning to do with him and so on. That is why he is not on the list at the moment."
No decision yet this weekend
In any case, we should not expect a quick decision, Steiner added: "It is not an easy task to do this, but I would say it is coming. I don't want to go into details. I think that is the right thing to do. As soon as we are out, we will announce it. Hopefully not for too long."
