Tost gives his thoughts on Honda's departure

Franz Tost, team boss of AlphaTauri, has admitted he is very disappointed that Honda are leaving Formula 1. He didn't see the news coming nor did he expect them to quit so soon.
Earlier in the day, Tost indicated that his team and Red Bull will continue to use the same engines, mainly for practical reasons. The future for the team is therefore still very unclear. "We will now have to look at what we are going to do and what engine supplier we can find for 2022," he said at the press conference this afternoon.
Relationship was good
"The news that Honda quit was a shock to me," said the Austrian to Sky Sports. "We have a good relationship with Honda. The cooperation between us has been very successful. So the fact that they have decided to quit is very bad for Red Bull and for us."
AlphaTauri hoped that the cooperation between them and the Japanese company, which started a year earlier than Red Bull, would last even longer. "We didn't know it would end like this when we started working together. We expected them to stay in the sport in the long term, at least until 2025. The global coronapandemic and company reorganizations are now stopping them," said a clearly disappointed Tost.
